Disable control on condition

I am trying to work out how to use conditions to disable a checkbox.

From the examples I can see how to disable a radio button if a registry key is not found but this does not seem to work the same way for a checkbox.

I can manually set:-

<Variable Name="Checkbox1State" Type="string" Value="disable" Persisted="yes" bal:Overridable="yes" />

But what I want to achieve is for the checkbox to be disabled if a key is found

<util:RegistrySearch Root="HKLM" Key="SOFTWARE\Something\13.0" Value="dllname" Variable="Checkbox1State" />

Any suggestions or alternative ways to do this?

Thanks
