hello
i have tried on different machines (using VS210+candle + Wix 3.7.1224.0), and even if i can build without any problem, any bootstrapper i build will crash (even the ones provided as examples)
i always get the same log at execution (i ve removed some variables from the log to make it shoreter) :

[...] : Burn v3.7.1224.0, Windows v6.2 (Build 9200: Service Pack 0), path: [my path]
[...] : Setting string variable 'WixBundleLog' to value [my log]
[...] : Setting string variable 'WixBundleOriginalSource' to value [my source]
[...] : Setting string variable 'WixBundleName' to value '[my bootstrapper name]'
[...] : Error 0xffffffff: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
[...] : Error 0xffffffff: Failed to initialize data in bootstrapper application.
[...] : Shutting down, exit code: 0xffff
[...] : Variable: WixBundleAction = 4
[...] : Variable: WixBundleElevated = 0
[...] : WixBundleInstalled = 0
[...] : Variable: WixBundleLog = [my log]
[...] : WixBundleManufacturer = [my company]
[...] : Variable: WixBundleName = [my bootrapper name]
[...] : WixBundleOriginalSource = [my source]
[...] : Variable: WixBundleProviderKey = {12159183-61d7-48f9-aaab-0f937cad71df}
[...] : Variable: WixBundleTag =

has anybody already had this problem ?
Thank you in advance

This usually means your Theme XML file is invalid - problem is tracking it down can be hard. I have also seen this if the splash screen bitmap or the theme images are invalid.

Have you tried building it with the batch file included with the samples? What happens if you build the samples?

Hello
I get the same problem building the samples using the batch.
I use Wix 3.8 on windows 8, can it cause this problem ?

I haven't tested this code with WiX 3.8 yet as the functionality has now be included in 3.8 so it makes the code presented here redundant.
