Bootstrapper not installing SQL and The Linked EXE

Jul 28, 2016 at 7:57 AM
I used the basic theme with Wix Extended Bootstrapper Application.

The Chain basically checks for SQL and if it does not exist, installs SQL and then runs the MSI for my program.

However, while the UI seems to show the progress, the installation does not seem to be happening.

Below is the code that I am using.
<Chain DisableSystemRestore="yes">
      <ExePackage
          Id="SQLSERVER"
          SourceFile ="$(var.SqlDownloadUrl)"
          Name="SQLEXPR_x64_ENU.exe"
          Compressed="no"
          DetectCondition="SqlInstanceFound"
          InstallCommand="$(var.SqlInstallCommand)"
          UninstallCommand="$(var.SqlUninstallCommand)"
          RepairCommand="$(var.SqlRepairCommand)"
          LogPathVariable="MyLogDestination"
          InstallCondition="RadioButton1 = 1">
      </ExePackage>
      <MsiPackage Id="MYINSTALLER_SERVER"
                  SourceFile ="$(var.myInstallerLocation)"
                  Name="MY Server Installation"
                  DisplayInternalUI="yes"
                  InstallCondition="RadioButton1 = 1"
                  Vital="yes">
        <MsiProperty Name="APPLICATIONFOLDER" Value="[InstallFolder]" />
        <MsiProperty Name="InstallType" Value="Server" />
      </MsiPackage>
      <MsiPackage Id="MYINSTALLER_CLIENT"
                  SourceFile ="$(var.myInstallerLocation)"
                  Name="MY Client Installation"
                  DisplayInternalUI="yes"
                  InstallCondition="RadioButton2 = 1"
                  Vital="yes">
        <MsiProperty Name="APPLICATIONFOLDER" Value="[InstallFolder]" />
        <MsiProperty Name="InstallType" Value="Client" />
      </MsiPackage>
    </Chain>
There are no errors. It says that installation completed successfully however, none of my programs are actually installed.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Ok

Got it to work.

I assume Wix 3.10.3 is still not supported and because of which it was not working as intended.

I downgraded myself to 3.9 and now it looks to be working perfectly fine.

I am not aware of any changes required to support WiX 3.10 - I am using it ok.

I am running into the same issue as ashutosh9910 using Wix 3.10.3. The installation of my exe programs is not being triggered. I am going to try to downgrade to 3.9 and see if this solves the problem.
